Widget Watch: Basecamp
Basecamp is an award-winning, web-based project management service from the much-loved 37Signals, makers of the equally-loved Backpack. Since Backpack has had its own widget for a while now, it seems that Kennedia Consulting felt it was high time Basecamp received the Dashboard treatment as well. The cleverly titled Basecamp Widget offers an interface to the pleasantly simple, yet powerful, Basecamp web service, allowing you to:- View Milestones, Todos, Posts and Contacts for your active projects
- Complete and Uncomplete Milestones
- Complete and Uncomplete ToDo items

This widget is simply awesome.
I have 6 on my dashboard now.
I can't wait to see what the developer does next.

Yes, Awesome. to bad there isn't anything like this that exists in an offline version. (Because I no longer have an internet connection from tomorrow on ... *sighs*)
And this would be so handy ... Anyone know of an offline basecamp widget alternative / an offline basecamp alternative?
Anyway, great widget! Kudos to the developer!

Thanks guys. :-)
I have just begun development of version 2 and blogged a list of features I am planning to include.

Would be great to hear from people who are using this and see how they would like to see things progress.

#3 - there is a project called activecollab (http://www.activecollab.com/) that is, for all intensive purposes, a basecamp "clone". The only major differnece (besides usability) is that it is not a hosted service, but rather a php/mysql package you can download from their website.
Use MAMP (http://www.mamp.info) to set up your mac with the LAMP stack — this sets your mac up as a localhost server (you can type http://localhost in your browser to access your activecollab locally.)
Enjoy.

Folks might want to check out another Basecamp widget, Sundial. It allows you to easily track time in Basecamp. http://clearwired.com/sundial/
