Background
The Basic plan ($11.99/month in the US) has not been available to new subscribers since last year. Netflix aims to retire the Basic plan in countries where the ad-supported tier is available. The ad-supported tier has gained popularity, with 40 million global monthly active users, up 35 million from last year.
