Apple is set to revolutionize smartphone photography with the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro Max, which will be the first to feature three 48MP camera lenses. Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed that the flagship device will sport an advanced Tetraprism telephoto lens, significantly enhancing photo quality and zoom capabilities.
The new camera system will include a 1/2.6″ 48MP CIS sensor, a major upgrade from the 12MP sensor in the iPhone 15 Pro. Both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max will also see improvements with at least 5x optical zoom and up to 25x digital zoom.
Kuo’s insights suggest that while the iPhone 17 Pro Max will debut the upgraded Tetraprism camera, the technology might extend to both iPhone 18 Pro models by 2026. This innovation aligns with earlier reports from Jeff Pu, who noted that the 48MP telephoto lens would be optimized for use with Apple Vision Pro.
The iPhone 17 Pro Max’s camera system will feature entirely 48MP lenses, offering a substantial leap in imaging technology. This change follows Apple’s trend of incremental but impactful enhancements in their camera systems, promising users even greater photographic capabilities.
The anticipated camera upgrades position the iPhone 17 Pro Max as a significant contender in the high-end smartphone market, emphasizing Apple’s commitment to advancing mobile photography technology.
