Curious if someone will know when you put them on Do Not Disturb? Here’s everything you need to know about how this feature works and whether it alerts the other person.
1. No Notifications Sent
When you put someone on Do Not Disturb, they will not receive any notification that they have been silenced. This feature is designed for your personal peace and quiet without alerting the other person.
2. Messages Still Go Through
The person you put on Do Not Disturb can still send you messages or call you, but you won’t be alerted by sound or vibration. Their messages will still appear in your inbox, and missed calls will show up in your call log.
3. Using Focus Status (iOS 15 and Later)
If you’ve shared your Focus Status with contacts, they may see a message like “(Your Name) has notifications silenced” when they try to message you. However, this doesn’t specify that they are on Do Not Disturb, just that you’ve silenced notifications in general.
Putting someone on Do Not Disturb does not notify them directly. They can still reach out to you, but you won’t be disturbed by alerts. If you’ve enabled Focus Status, they might see that your notifications are silenced, but they won’t know specifically that they’re on Do Not Disturb.
