Apple is celebrating the 108th anniversary of the U.S. National Park Service by launching a special fundraising campaign. From August 19 to August 25, 2024, Apple will donate $10 to the National Park Foundation for every purchase made using Apple Pay on Apple.com, in the Apple Store app, or at Apple Stores across the United States.

Ongoing Partnership and Digital Resources

This marks the eighth year of Apple’s partnership with the National Park Foundation. The company’s contributions go beyond financial support. They provide digital resources to help users connect with the beauty and history of national parks. For instance, Apple Music has curated a “Nature Awaits” playlist available in stores, and over 30 Apple Maps Guides offer curated experiences to explore protected lands.

CEO Tim Cook’s Commitment to Preservation

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the importance of this partnership, highlighting the role of national parks in inspiring people. “Every time I visit a national park, I’m struck by their extraordinary beauty and incredibly rich history,” Cook said. “We’re proud to partner with the National Park Foundation to help preserve these natural treasures.”

Empowering the Next Generation

Apple also supports the National Park Foundation’s efforts to engage youth in STEM-related learning. Programs like the EcoLogik Institute, backed by Apple, connect young women with nature through science. These initiatives aim to empower the next generation of environmental stewards.

New Ways to Explore and Engage

In addition to the Apple Pay donation campaign, Apple is offering several ways for users to connect with nature. On August 25, Apple Watch users can earn a limited-edition award by completing a 20-minute workout. Later in 2024, Apple Maps will introduce new features, including detailed hike information, topographic maps, and offline trail details. These updates will enhance how users explore national parks.
