At its highly anticipated “Glowtime” event, Apple introduced the new AirPods 4, featuring Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and USB-C charging for the first time in its standard AirPods lineup. These updates position the AirPods 4 as an attractive choice for both casual users and audiophiles alike.

Active Noise Cancellation for High-Tier Model

In a significant move, Apple has brought ANC—a feature previously exclusive to the Pro models—to the higher-end version of AirPods 4. This addition gives users a more immersive listening experience, perfect for those who frequently find themselves in noisy environments. The standard AirPods 4 also come with shorter stems and improved sound quality, though they lack ANC.

Both versions now support USB-C charging, aligning with Apple’s broader shift away from Lightning connectors. Additionally, the high-tier model includes a built-in speaker in the case, which makes tracking your AirPods easier through the Find My network.

Powered by the H2 Chip

The AirPods 4 are powered by Apple’s advanced H2 chip, offering faster pairing, better battery efficiency, and support for Bluetooth 5.3. The chip also enables improved sound quality through Personalized Spatial Audio and smoother device switching, enhancing the overall user experience.

Design and Comfort Improvements

The new AirPods 4 design is an evolution of earlier models, blending elements from the AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro. The shorter stems and ergonomically refined shape provide a more secure and comfortable fit for a wider range of ear shapes.

Apple has expanded the charging options as well. Both AirPods 4 models can now be charged using USB-C or an Apple Watch charger, offering greater flexibility for users on the go.

Pricing and Availability

Apple has set the pricing for the AirPods 4 at $129 for the standard version and $179 for the model with ANC. Pre-orders are now available, with shipping starting on September 20.

With enhanced features like ANC, USB-C charging, and the H2 chip, the AirPods 4 deliver a premium audio experience at an accessible price point, reinforcing Apple’s leadership in the wireless earbuds market.
