Apple has raised prices for out-of-warranty battery replacements for its latest iPhone models. The cost for replacing batteries in the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max is now $119, up 20% from the previous $99 for the iPhone 15 Pro. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus still maintain a $99 replacement fee.
Increased Costs for Larger Batteries
The hike is attributed to the larger batteries and advanced technology in the iPhone 16 Pro series. Notably, these batteries feature a new metal casing that aids heat dissipation, which may require more labor during replacement. This added complexity could be the reason behind the increased price for repairs.

Apple had previously increased out-of-warranty battery replacement fees for the iPhone 14 models in 2022, from $69 to $99, and it appears this trend is continuing with newer devices.
AppleCare’s Battery Benefits
Although the increase affects out-of-warranty replacements, iPhone owners with AppleCare+ coverage are unaffected. Under AppleCare, battery replacements are free if the battery’s capacity falls below 80%. The AppleCare+ coverage extends for up to three years, ensuring protection against additional repair costs.
Long-Term Impact
For most users, this price hike won’t be an immediate concern, as the iPhone 16 Pro series comes with a year of warranty coverage, and many buyers opt for AppleCare+ to avoid expensive repairs. However, for those who prefer not to renew their AppleCare after it expires, the cost of maintenance could become a factor in the long run.
