Starting this October, U.S. Amazon Prime Video subscribers can add Apple TV+ for $9.99 per month. This partnership helps Apple boost the visibility of its streaming platform by tapping into Amazon’s massive user base. Apple TV+ joins over 100 other add-on options that Prime Video viewers can choose from, offering more variety.

A Strategy for Broader Reach

Apple raised the price of Apple TV+ from $6.99 to $9.99 last year. Now, by partnering with Amazon, Apple hopes to reach new audiences. Many of these viewers may not have downloaded a separate app for Apple TV+. Eddy Cue, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, expressed excitement about the collaboration. “We’re thrilled that Prime Video will now offer Apple TV+,” he said, noting the convenience for viewers.

For some users, this integration is especially valuable. Those with smart TVs that support Prime Video but lack Apple TV+ can now enjoy Apple’s shows without extra devices or apps.

Competition in the Streaming Arena

Amazon Prime Video has an estimated 115 million users in the U.S. This partnership puts Apple TV+ content in front of a large audience. However, Apple faces stiff competition, as Amazon already offers add-ons like HBO Max, Showtime, and Paramount+. Apple TV+ will need to stand out in this crowded space to attract new subscribers.

The add-on does not offer a discount. Instead, Amazon promotes it as a way to keep all streaming services in one place. Together, Prime Video and Apple TV+ will cost $18.98 per month.

What’s Next for Apple TV+?

As Apple grows its streaming service, this partnership with Amazon may help expand its audience. While Apple TV+ remains smaller than giants like Netflix, this move brings its content to more viewers. With the new Apple TV+ add-on, Amazon Prime users can enjoy a broader range of shows and films, all within one app.
