Capcom’s zombie-horror classic Resident Evil 2 remake will soon be available on Mac, with an official release date of December 31, 2024. Following the success of previous Resident Evil games on Apple devices, including Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, Capcom is now bringing the fan-favorite Resident Evil 2 to Apple’s ecosystem. The game will be accessible via the Mac App Store, offering Mac users a chance to experience the horror of Raccoon City on their own devices.

System Requirements for Mac and iOS

To run the game on a Mac, users will need an Apple Silicon M1 chip or better, and macOS 13 or later. The game will require a 22.1GB download, expanding to 31GB after installation. Resident Evil 2 will also support iPhone and iPad devices equipped with an A17 chip or later, running iOS 17 or iPadOS 17. The remake delivers a terrifying experience, with stunning graphics and immersive soundscapes that recreate the original game’s atmosphere.

Capcom has listed the game as a free download, allowing players to access a limited portion of the game at no cost. However, the full game will be available as an in-app purchase. This model follows Capcom’s recent strategy with mobile games, providing gamers a taste before they commit to buying the entire experience.

The Resident Evil Franchise on Apple

The launch of Resident Evil 2 on Mac marks another milestone in Capcom’s ongoing efforts to expand its iconic franchise across Apple devices. Earlier in 2024, Capcom released Resident Evil 4 for iPhone 15 Pro, iPad, and Mac, as well as Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. The addition of Resident Evil 2 allows Apple users to continue their journey into the terrifying world of Raccoon City, a storyline that has captivated gamers since its original release in 1998.

Capcom’s commitment to Apple’s platform demonstrates the growing demand for high-quality gaming experiences on macOS and iOS. With Apple Silicon’s advanced processing capabilities, games like Resident Evil 2 can now deliver console-quality visuals and performance on mobile and desktop devices.

A Frightening Journey Awaits

In Resident Evil 2, players step into the roles of Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield as they navigate a city overrun by zombies and other horrific creatures. Set in Raccoon City in 1998, the game challenges players to survive and uncover the mystery behind the viral outbreak. The remake has been praised for its stunning visuals, intense gameplay, and faithfulness to the original game.

With its December 31 release, Resident Evil 2 promises to bring thrills and chills to Mac users, offering an immersive horror experience that takes full advantage of Apple’s powerful hardware. As the Resident Evil series continues to expand on Apple devices, fans can expect more iconic horror moments to come.
