Apple has unveiled plans to open its first online and physical stores in Saudi Arabia. This marks a significant milestone for the tech giant, which aims to deepen its footprint in the Middle East.

The company’s expansion kicks off with the launch of the Apple Store online in summer 2025. This platform will allow Saudi customers to shop Apple’s full product range in Arabic for the first time. Physical flagship stores will follow in 2026, including a prominent location at the Diriyah UNESCO World Heritage site.

Strengthening Local Connections

Apple CEO Tim Cook emphasized the company’s commitment to Saudi Arabia in a statement. “Our teams are excited to deepen connections with customers and bring the best of Apple to help people explore their passions and build their businesses,” Cook said.

The stores will offer unique shopping experiences, featuring knowledgeable staff and personalized services. Customers can compare products, access financing options, and receive setup assistance directly from Apple.

Developer Opportunities and Economic Growth

Apple’s retail expansion builds on its 2021 launch of the region’s first Apple Developer Academy in Riyadh. The all-women academy, located at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University, has trained nearly 2,000 students in coding and app development. Graduates have already begun publishing apps for both domestic and global markets.

In 2024, Apple expanded its programs by hosting the first coed Apple Foundation Program in Saudi Arabia. This month-long course focused on gaming and app fundamentals, attracting participants from across the country. Apple plans to further grow these initiatives in 2025.

Boosting the Saudi Economy

Apple’s investment extends beyond retail. Since 2019, the company has spent over 10 billion SAR in Saudi Arabia. Apple services, including Apple Pay, have also played a role in modernizing payment systems. Riyadh recently became the first city in the Middle East to introduce Express Mode for seamless metro and bus payments.

With its retail and developer initiatives, Apple aims to empower local communities and drive economic growth in Saudi Arabia’s thriving digital landscape. The upcoming stores are expected to bring new opportunities for customers, developers, and businesses alike.
