Apple has restarted its developer beta program for 2025, releasing the second beta builds of iOS 18.3, iPadOS 18.3, macOS 15.3, tvOS 18.3, watchOS 11.3, and visionOS 2.3. These updates follow the initial beta round released on December 16, 2024, and bring incremental improvements and bug fixes to Apple’s ecosystem.

What’s New in the Latest Betas?

The second beta of iOS 18.3 and iPadOS 18.3 carries the build number 22D5040d, replacing the first build 22D5034e. Similarly, macOS Sequoia 15.3 now uses build 24D5040f, while tvOS 18.3, watchOS 11.3, and visionOS 2.3 have received updates to their respective builds.

One notable improvement includes fixes to Apple’s Genmoji feature. Previously, users experienced issues with generating personalized images unless a different individual was selected first. Additionally, the Writing Tools API for third-party apps has also been improved, ensuring smoother functionality.

While no major feature updates have been reported yet, the changes signal Apple’s ongoing refinement of its operating systems. Developers and early adopters expect further enhancements to Apple Intelligence features across devices in future beta releases.

Precautions for Beta Testers

Apple strongly advises against installing beta software on primary devices. Beta versions can carry risks, including potential data loss and system instability. Testers should use secondary devices and maintain backups of critical data to avoid disruptions.

These updates are primarily aimed at developers, offering them an early opportunity to test new features and compatibility. The feedback from these betas plays a crucial role in ensuring a stable public release in the coming months.

Looking Ahead

As Apple continues to refine its software, the developer beta program serves as a key step in the process. By addressing reported issues and fine-tuning features, Apple ensures its operating systems meet user expectations. The broader public can expect the official releases later in 2025, bringing polished updates to their devices.
