Apple has launched its 2025 edition of the Black Unity Sport Loop for the Apple Watch, featuring an innovative color-changing loop effect. This release aligns with the company’s annual tradition of honoring Black History Month, introducing a limited-edition band and matching device wallpapers.
A Design Inspired by Cultural Heritage
The Black Unity Collection for 2025, titled “Unity Rhythm,” was designed by Black creatives and allies. It draws inspiration from “the rhythm of humanity,” incorporating the black, green, and red hues of the Pan-African flag. The band’s texture includes a mix of raised and recessed loops, creating a lenticular effect that shifts between green and red, with yellow appearing during transitions.
The accompanying Unity Rhythm watch face features numerals intertwined with red, green, and yellow threads. These elements respond to the gyroscope, dynamically transforming brush strokes into numbers when the wrist is raised. Additionally, the watch face includes rhythmic chimes that sound every full and half-hour.
Available for Purchase
Apple has made the Black Unity Sport Loop available for purchase both online and in-store. The band is priced at $49 and comes in 42mm and 46mm sizes. It is compatible with Apple Watch Series 4 and later models, including the Apple Watch SE and Apple Watch Ultra.
