Season 2 Mythic+ Dungeons
In the upcoming season, the Mythic+ dungeon pool is getting a fresh addition—Operation: Floodgate. Players will also revisit some dungeons from Season 1, along with three instances from previous expansions. Here’s the full list of returning dungeons:
- Cinderbrew Meadery
- Darkflame Cleft
- The Rookery
- Priory of the Sacred Flame
- The MOTHERLODE!!
- Theater of Pain
- Operation: Mechagon: Workshop
It’s also worth noting that Mythic+ content won’t be available right at launch; it will unlock one week after the patch goes live.
Affixes & Modifiers
Season 2 brings some adjustments to Mythic+ difficulty modifiers, making instances much more manageable and less punishing, especially for less experienced players.
Baseline Mythic instances will feature tougher enemies, but the experience will remain accessible for newer players. Starting from Keystone Level 2, enemy HP and damage will increase by 7% per level—a slight nerf from the previous 10% scaling, giving players a bit more breathing room than in Season 1.
Xal’atath’s Bargain
At +4 keys, players will encounter the first seasonal affix—Xal’atath’s Bargain. This affix has four variations, rotating on a weekly basis:
- Ascendant: Xal’atath spawns orbs of cosmic energy. If mobs absorb them, they gain buffs. However, if players manage to interrupt the cast, they receive the buffs instead.
- Voidbound: A Void Emissary shows up, granting enemies stacking buffs. Killing it rewards players with increased Versatility and a cooldown reduction on spells and abilities.
- Pulsar: Rotating pulsars appear around players. If destroyed within 15 seconds, players get a temporary buff. Otherwise, mobs gain the advantage.
- Devour: Xal’atath opens rifts that damage players over time. Receiving healing or using a dispel stops the effect and grants players a buff. If ignored, enemies gain the buff instead.
Fortified and Tyrannical
The already familiar affixes return in Season 2, first appearing at Keystone Level 7 and then again at Level 10. When Tyrannical is active, bosses gain +30% HP and deal +15% increased damage. With Fortified, non-boss foes receive +20% HP, with their DPS buffed up to +20%.
These affixes rotate weekly but never appear at both +7 and +10 Keys in the same week. If Tyrannical is active at +7, then Fortified will be at +10, and vice versa.
Xal’atath’s Guile
At +12 keys, the Bargain affix is replaced with Xal’atath’s Guile, which shaves 15 seconds off the dungeon timer for every player death.
Mythic+ Season 2 Loot
In a recent announcement, the devs promised major changes to Mythic+ content, including some tweaks to its reward track.
The addition of Delves had significantly impacted early Mythic+ gearing, as many players preferred farming Champion gear in Delves due to their faster and easier completion. This created a problem: after obtaining gear from Delves, players had to start their Mythic+ experience at +7 keys to farm Hero-track items. However, at that level, they were immediately pitted against enemies that had massive health and damage buffs, along with an affix that made runs much harder. As a result, gearing became too difficult, especially for those unfamiliar with Mythic+ content. Plus, finding teammates for lower keys was a struggle as they were no longer in demand, while +7 and higher keys had much stricter group requirements that M+ newcomers could rarely meet.
To address this issue, Blizzard has reworked loot distribution. Now, starting from Mythic 0 dungeons, players will be able to obtain Champion gear up to Mythic +5, with item levels ranging from 639 to 645 in end-of-dungeon chests. Beginning at +6 keys, Hero-track gear will start dropping, with item levels from 649 up to a maximum of 655.
Great Vault rewards will now range from 649 ilvl Hero gear to 662 ilvl Myth-track items. Additionally, players will earn various Harbinger Crests: Mythic 0 will reward Carved Crests, keys from +2 to +6 will drop Runed Crests, and higher keys will grant Gilded Crests.
Rewards
For those looking to showcase their skills, Season 2 will once again offer several prestigious achievements—but this time with a new twist.
The devs have increased the rating requirement for Keystone Legend, meaning players will now need to score 3,000 points to earn the achievement and unlock the Enterprising Shreddertank mount.
To obtain the Resilient Keystone achievement, players must complete all dungeons at a specific level on timer. The requirement starts at level 12, and once completed, those levels will no longer deplete for the rest of the season.
Several achievements from previous seasons will also return:
- Keystone Explorer for completing any Mythic+ dungeon on timer.
- Keystone Conqueror for achieving 1,500 rating in the current season. It also rewards The Enterprising title.
- Keystone Master is given to those who hit 2,000 M+ rating, also unlocking the Crimson Shreddertank mount.
- To get Keystone Hero, you need to earn 2,500 M+ rating. This achievement also rewards Gallagio’s Highroller Bombstone.
- If by the end of the season, you manage to get into the top 0.1% of players in your region, you’ll be awarded the Enterprising Hero achievement and the title of the same name.
Just like in the previous season, players who complete a specific dungeon at +10 or higher on timer will be rewarded with a teleport to that dungeon’s entrance.
Best Classes for Season 2 Mythic+
Based on patch 11.1 PTR testing, a rough meta is already starting to take shape.
Among tanks, Vengeance DH stands out thanks to its insane damage numbers, solid mob control, and good utility. Other strong performers include Brewmaster Monk and Protection Paladin, both of which bring great survivability and team support.
As for healers, Mistweaver Monk looks like the absolute frontrunner for the upcoming season, knocking the previously overpowered Resto Shaman to the bottom of the tier list.
When it comes to DPS, Augmentation Evoker is shaping up to be one of the most dominant specs in Season 2. It currently boasts the highest M+ damage profile for the spec, along with insanely high uptime on Ebon Might, leading to massive DPS buffs—especially when paired with Close as Clutchmates. Add to that crazy utility, multiple dispels, and tons of ways to boost and support the team, and it’s easy to see why this spec is a total powerhouse. Enhancement Shaman also boasts massive damage output, with some of the best AoE damage in the game and overall very decent performance on all DPS fronts. Lastly, BM Hunter earns its S-tier spot thanks to amazing sustained AoE damage, largely due to the insanely high uptime on Bestial Wrath.
