Apple has announced plans to open a new retail store in downtown Detroit. This marks another expansion in the region. The confirmation follows months of speculation as Apple starts hiring for various positions.
The company has not disclosed the exact address or opening date. However, reports suggest the store will be at 1426 to 1434 Woodward Avenue. This will be Apple’s fourth Detroit metro store and seventh in Michigan.

Boosting Detroit’s Economic Growth
Apple’s decision aligns with Detroit’s revitalization efforts. The store will join other major businesses driving the city’s comeback. Bedrock, a real estate firm owned by billionaire Dan Gilbert, is reportedly leading the site’s development.
Gilbert has pushed to bring Apple to downtown Detroit since 2015. The new store is expected to boost job opportunities and foot traffic in the area. Apple has already posted job openings, signaling that the launch is nearing.
Apple’s Growing Presence in Michigan
Apple already operates three stores in the Detroit metro area:
- Apple Twelve Oaks (Novi)
- Apple Somerset (Troy)
- Apple Partridge Creek (Clinton Township)
This new location strengthens Apple’s Michigan presence. It will give customers access to products, services, and tech support closer to home.
Apple also supports Detroit’s tech ecosystem. In 2021, the company partnered with Michigan State University to launch the Apple Developer Academy. The program trains students in coding, design, and entrepreneurship.
What’s Next for Apple’s Expansion?
Apple continues to grow its retail network. This expansion shows its focus on providing in-store experiences in key markets.
With construction underway, Detroit residents can expect a new Apple Store soon. More details on the grand opening should arrive in the coming months.
