Apple has officially announced the iPhone 16e, positioning it as a more affordable alternative to its flagship devices while integrating powerful Apple Intelligence capabilities. This model replaces the iPhone SE, adopting a modern design and upgraded specifications that align with the iPhone 14.
With a 6.1-inch OLED display, the iPhone 16e marks a significant shift from the older SE models, which retained the iPhone 8’s outdated form factor. This change introduces Face ID for the first time in the budget segment, replacing the older Touch ID technology.
Redesigned with Modern Upgrades
Apple has given the iPhone 16e a fresh look, featuring a sleek aluminum body, similar in size and shape to the iPhone 14. One of the most noticeable changes is the switch from Lightning to USB-C, aligning with Apple’s recent move towards universal connectivity.

Enhanced Connectivity and Battery Life
Apple has equipped the iPhone 16e with a larger battery than its predecessor, promising longer battery life. The device also debuts Apple’s in-house 5G modem, known as Sinope, which replaces Qualcomm modems in previous models. While it supports sub-6GHz 5G, it does not include mmWave technology.
Other connectivity features include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC support for Apple Pay. However, the MagSafe feature has been removed, limiting wireless charging to Qi-compatible chargers at 7.5W.

The iPhone 16e comes in black and white color options and offers storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Prices start at $599, making it an attractive option for users who want premium features without a premium price tag.
Preorders begin on February 21, with the device becoming available for purchase on February 28.
