Apple is set to debut its first full-length immersive documentary on the Vision Pro headset. Starring U2’s Bono, Stories of Surrender is a cinematic adaptation of his one-man stage show. The film explores his life, career, and personal experiences. It will premiere globally on May 30, 2025, on Apple TV+ and Apple Vision Pro.

A Groundbreaking Viewing Experience

Unlike traditional documentaries, Stories of Surrender takes viewers beyond the screen. Apple filmed the production in 180-degree 8K video with Spatial Audio, placing audiences in the heart of the performance. Viewers will feel as though they are onstage with Bono, creating a unique and personal experience.

The film features live performances of U2’s music and unseen footage. Apple calls it a “vivid reimagining” of the stage show, blending storytelling with music and immersive visuals. This project highlights the potential of Vision Pro in the entertainment industry.

Apple and U2: A Longstanding Partnership

Apple’s history with U2 dates back to 2004 when they launched a special edition U2 iPod. Their partnership faced controversy in 2014 when Apple added U2’s Songs of Innocence album to users’ iTunes libraries without consent. Bono later took responsibility for the incident in his memoir, Surrender: 40 Songs, One Story, which inspired this documentary.

Expanding Vision Pro’s Content Library

Apple Vision Pro has struggled with a limited selection of long-form content. Until now, its immersive video lineup has focused on short productions, such as Submerged, a 16-minute submarine drama. Stories of Surrender marks Apple’s first step into feature-length immersive films.

Apple’s investment in high-quality content signals its commitment to evolving the Vision Pro platform. By bringing full-length immersive films to the device, the company aims to position the headset as a serious player in entertainment. With Bono’s documentary leading the way, Vision Pro’s future in immersive storytelling looks promising.
