Philips Hue may soon enter the smart doorbell market. A recent iOS app update accidentally revealed the existence of a “Hue Secure Doorbell,” sparking speculation that the product is close to launch.
The leak came from HueBlog, which found a new device setup option in the Hue app. Users who selected “No QR code” during setup saw the doorbell listed. Although trying to proceed brought up a power warning, it confirmed the hardware is real and likely in testing.

Features Could Mirror Hue Secure Cameras
Though details are limited, the Hue Secure Doorbell will likely include video capabilities. Based on the existing Hue Secure Camera range, it could offer 1080p video, smart motion alerts, and two-way audio. End-to-end encryption is also expected, as it’s already part of Hue’s current security devices.
The doorbell appears to support both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for setup, offering flexible connection options for users.
Missing HomeKit Support Disappoints Some Users
Despite the integration with the iOS app, one key feature may be missing—Apple HomeKit support. Philips Hue’s existing security cameras do not support HomeKit or HomeKit Secure Video. As a result, many Apple users may be disappointed by this continued limitation.
Philips Hue products do support Matter, a smart home standard designed to improve compatibility across platforms. However, Matter’s support for security features is still limited, which could explain the lack of deeper integration with Apple’s ecosystem.
Release Could Arrive in Fall
Although Philips Hue has yet to officially announce the doorbell, app-based leaks often point to an upcoming release. Sources suggest a potential launch could happen in the fall of 2025.
For now, smart home enthusiasts are watching closely. If Philips adds a doorbell to its lineup, it would be a significant step in expanding its security ecosystem.
