Two major titles, Control Ultimate Edition and Wuthering Waves, are now officially available for Mac users via the Mac App Store. First announced during Apple’s WWDC 2024 event, these long-awaited games signal the tech giant’s continued efforts to strengthen Mac as a gaming platform.
Award-Winning Thriller Joins the Lineup
Developed by Remedy Entertainment, Control Ultimate Edition is a third-person action shooter praised for its supernatural storytelling and immersive gameplay. Players step into the role of a newly appointed director at the mysterious Federal Bureau of Control, navigating shifting corridors and fighting off unknown threats. Originally released in 2019, the game has earned over 80 awards and is now available on the Mac App Store for $39.99.

Dive into a Post-Apocalyptic World
Alongside Control, Wuthering Waves brings open-world exploration to Mac users. This post-apocalyptic RPG blends gacha mechanics with action-based combat. Gamers control Rover, a character suffering from memory loss, who journeys through a broken world in search of answers. The game’s visuals and mechanics draw inspiration from popular mobile and console titles. It is free to download on the Mac App Store, although in-app purchases are expected.
A Step Forward for Mac Gaming
Although Apple showcased several titles during WWDC 2024, not all made a timely debut. However, the release of these two games marks progress in bringing high-quality titles to macOS. While Control remains exclusive to the Mac App Store for now, Wuthering Waves embraces the freemium model and is likely to attract casual and committed players alike.
What This Means for Users
These additions may signal broader support for AAA and indie titles on Mac in the near future. With performance improvements in Apple Silicon chips and growing developer interest, Mac users could see more titles arriving faster than before.
As gaming expands beyond traditional consoles and PCs, Apple’s investment in the Mac gaming space continues to grow—one title at a time.
