Apple TV+ has a new standout series on its hands. The Studio, co-created by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, is being hailed as the streaming platform’s latest breakout hit—drawing comparisons to the critically acclaimed Severance. The show offers a sharp, satirical look at the inner workings of Hollywood and has already made waves with its debut.
A Critically Acclaimed Launch
The first two episodes of The Studio have received glowing reviews from top critics. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the series currently holds a 96% “Certified Fresh” rating, with 22 out of 23 top critics praising the show. Audience scores are slightly lower but still favorable, with a 3.7 out of 5 average and 69% of viewers rating it 3.5 stars or higher.

These scores position The Studio as one of the highest-rated shows on Apple TV+, second only to Severance, which has maintained a strong presence with both critics and audiences.
Behind the Scenes of The Studio
Rogen stars as Matt Remick, a studio executive navigating chaos in the film industry. The character deals with difficult artists, corporate pressure, and the stress of trying to produce hits. The story draws from real experiences and insights gained through interviews with Hollywood insiders, giving the satire added authenticity.
Interestingly, the production used long, uninterrupted shots—known as “oners”—to limit studio interference. These extended scenes made it difficult for Apple to request edits, allowing Rogen and his team to retain creative control.
Cameos, Critique, and Comedy
Despite early doubts from Apple executives, the team secured an impressive list of celebrity cameos, including Martin Scorsese. The series not only entertains but also critiques the cautious nature of modern studios, encouraging a return to risk-taking in film development.
Rogen’s personal frustrations with studio restrictions, including past experiences on The Green Hornet, inspired many of the show’s comedic moments.
