Apple is reportedly taking a bold step in wearable tech by developing an all-glass Apple Watch. According to a well-known leaker, Instant Digital, the tech giant plans to unveil the new design long before introducing a similar concept for the iPhone.

While rumors of all-glass Apple products have circulated for years, this fresh speculation suggests the company might test its futuristic look on a smaller device first.

Breaking Away From Tradition

Currently, Apple uses durable materials like Zirconia for the back of the Apple Watch. Replacing this with glass would raise concerns about durability. However, the leak hints at a design with glass covering the entire body of the watch, possibly excluding the digital crown and side button.

This shift could allow Apple to expand the display across the device’s sides, creating a more immersive screen experience.

Patent Clues and Past Hints

Apple has explored similar ideas in its patent filings, including wraparound screens for iPhones. However, the company hasn’t always acted on those ideas. The iPhone 8, for example, was rumored to be all-glass but only featured a glass back.

The source of this new leak hasn’t been confirmed, and Apple hasn’t issued a statement. Even so, Instant Digital has a mixed record. They correctly predicted the frosted glass on the iPhone 15 and the capture button on the iPhone 16. But they also missed the launch timeline for new iPads in 2024.

Future Innovation, Still Unconfirmed

Although patents and rumors spark excitement, they don’t guarantee a product’s release. Apple is known for exploring bold concepts that never hit shelves.

If the leak is accurate, the Apple Watch could become Apple’s testbed for radical design—possibly changing the future of its product line.
