Apple’s latest iOS 18.4 update has brought fresh issues for some CarPlay users. Drivers report that CarPlay frequently disconnects and reconnects without warning, making the feature unreliable during trips. These complaints focus mainly on wireless CarPlay connections.
Users have also noticed missing features—such as the “Now Playing” screen vanishing from their car displays. While CarPlay has faced issues in the past, this wave of complaints appears tied specifically to iOS 18.4.

No Clear Pattern or Fix Yet
Reports show that the issue isn’t limited to a specific car brand or model. One Reddit user explained that CarPlay disconnected as soon as Siri began reading a text message. Others have noted display changes, such as icons appearing differently or menus not working as before.
Apple hasn’t confirmed how widespread the problem is. So far, they haven’t provided a fix or offered any official comment. Notably, the issue could not be reproduced during some testing, suggesting that it may not affect all devices.
Update Does Offer Some Visual Tweaks
Despite the glitches, iOS 18.4 also includes a small improvement for CarPlay. On vehicles with larger screens, users can now see a third row of app icons. However, this addition has been overshadowed by the frequent disconnections.
Some users, frustrated by the lack of stability, have considered switching to beta versions of future iOS releases in hopes of a fix.
What Users Can Do
At the moment, Apple encourages users to report any issues through official support channels. Complaints on social media or forums won’t trigger internal reviews unless logged directly with the company.
As more users share their experiences, Apple may address the problem in a future patch. Until then, affected drivers will need to deal with interruptions to their in-car experience.
