Apple has released a new app designed for creators working with immersive video. The Apple Immersive Video Utility, now available on the Mac App Store, allows users to manage, edit, and stream spatial video content to Vision Pro headsets.

With this app, creators can import immersive video files, sort and organize them, and build playlists. The tool also allows editing of metadata and post-production updates. For professionals working in immersive formats, this tool fills a major gap.

Built for Vision Pro Integration

One of the key features of the app is its direct connection to Apple Vision Pro. Users can stream immersive video locally from their Mac to one or more Vision Pro headsets. This makes it ideal for studios, teams, or individuals previewing content.

Although the app is free and open to everyone, its full value is clear for production companies. Most everyday users won’t benefit unless immersive video becomes more widespread.

Professional-Grade Performance Requirements

To run the app, users need a Mac powered by an M1 chip or newer. On the Vision Pro, the companion app must also be installed for streaming. The immersive videos use Apple’s most advanced format—180-degree, 8K 3D video with Spatial Audio. This format offers a deeper and more cinematic experience than standard spatial video.

Apple Times Release with NAB 2025

Apple launched the app during the NAB Show 2025 in Las Vegas, a global event for media and broadcast professionals. The move shows Apple’s intent to target serious creators and expand its influence in the pro media world.

As more creators explore immersive content, Apple’s new utility gives them a powerful tool. From production to playback, this app supports a more seamless and immersive workflow.
