An unusual event unfolded on Easter Sunday in Amsterdam when a closed Apple Store was discovered to be unlocked. Curious passersby entered the empty store, located in the busy Leidseplein area, expecting it to be open for business. Inside, they found no employees and powered-off devices, quickly realizing something was off.

Group Acts Responsibly

The visitors, initially entering with shopping intentions, soon noticed signs the store wasn’t actually open—product displays were off and no staff were present. Rather than taking advantage of the situation, some members of the group contacted local police. They also encouraged others to exit the store and stood by to prevent any theft or damage.

Security Mix-Up Confirmed

When police arrived, they confirmed that nothing had been stolen or broken. A security guard later emerged and admitted the door had been left unlocked by mistake. The store had simply been forgotten during a routine lockup, which led to the accidental access.

Viral Moment Online

Before authorities secured the store, one of the visitors, Arvin Mulder, shared the incident on TikTok. The video captured the eerie calm of the empty store and quickly gained over 510,000 views, highlighting the surreal nature of the event.

Recent Spotlight on the Store

Coincidentally, the Amsterdam Apple Store had recently returned to the public eye due to Netflix’s drama “iHostage,” based on a real-life 2022 hostage crisis at the same location. In that earlier event, an armed man held a customer hostage, demanding cryptocurrency before police ended the standoff.
